So where do I begin?

Your first 3-5 Pilates sessions should be private ones if at all possible. This will introduce you to the Pilates Equipment, allow the instructor to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and give you a chance for some goal setting and trouble shooting. This will familiarize you with the awareness and articulation of the movement, and philosophy of Pilates.

How many private Pilates sessions should I take?

Every person has a different background; there is not one formula for everyone. After you have taken 3-5 private sessions, it will be up to you and the instructor to decide if you are ready to move on to semi-private sessions [group classes]. If possible, beginners should take at least 3-5 private sessions before advancing to semi-privates or tower classes.

What should I wear?

You should wear clothing that is comfortable for you to work out in. Try to avoid over-sized attire that would make it difficult for the instructor to observe your body during the session. You will never wear shoes, and socks are optional.

How many times a week should I do Pilates?

Two to three times a week is a good balance.

Isn’t taking Pilates 2 or 3 times a week expensive?

There are many ways to add value to your private sessions. Clients who take private and semi private sessions are always given discounts on group classes as long as space is available.

As a matter of fact the best way to learn Pilates is to take 1 private session 1 semi private session and 1 group class a week. This allows you to learn at an accelerated rate.
